Open house day

In order to give interested parties the opportunity to get an impression of the "KEEL", the Chair of Human Resources and Organization and the Chair of Innovation, Competition and New Institutional Economics of Prof. Dr. Till Requate jointly organized an open house in November 2018. Numerous guests from administration, research, and affiliated institutions of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences took the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes over coffee, tea, and cake and to familiarize themselves with the technical possibilities offered by the laboratory. The participation in smaller experiments of the two hosting professorships was also very well received by the visitors*. For example, creative proposals for a new laboratory logo were developed in teams in the Team Interaction Lab as part of a logo design competition. At the same time, other visitors were able to observe the team interaction from the control room and control the high-resolution cameras. The open day at the "KEEL" proved to be a great opportunity to jointly develop new ideas for research collaborations, and was therefore a great success for both the guests and the hosting professorships.

Projects in the laboratory

Since its opening, the "KEEL" has been used, among other things, for the research seminar "Does leadership get under your skin? In this seminar, master students have examined the effects of different leadership styles on the well-being of those they lead. The seminar enabled the transfer of current scientific standards into teaching and thus in the long term into business practice. In April last year, preliminary results of these studies were presented by graduate psychologist Svenja Plidschun at the University of Koblenz-Landau.

Visit of the former president of the CAU

At the beginning of 2020, Prof. Dr. Lutz Kipp, President of the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel until May 2020, visited our experimental laboratory "KEEL" and gained insights into the research activities of the Chair of Human Resources and Organization. Our guest was able to convince himself of the possibilities of our newly acquired automatic emotion recognition software and to familiarize himself with the control of the team interaction laboratory. Especially the research topics Diversity Training in the Team as well as Leadership and Well-being allowed for links to current issues of the CAU Kiel Executive Board and stimulated an interesting discussion.
